Bactrim Uses Bactrim are both antibiotics that treat different types of bacterial infections. Bactrim fight bacteria in your body.It is used to treat infections such as urinary tract infections, bronchitis, ear infections (otitis), traveler's diarrhea, and Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia. How to Use Bactrim Take Bactrim exactly as directed on the package or as directed by your doctor. If you do not understand these directions, ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them to you. Take Bactrim with food or milk if it upsets your stomach. Never take more of this medication than is prescribed for you. Bactrim Side Effects This drug may cause following serious side effects : an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, closing of your throat, swelling of your lips, tongue, or face, or hives), unusual bleeding or bruising, or yellow skin or eyes. Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take your medication and talk to your doctor if you experience headache, fatigue, or dizziness, nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, or diarrhea, weakness, or increased sensitivity to the sun. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual. Bactrim Precautions Tell your doctor your medical history, including : kidney or liver disease, or a glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency (G6PD deficiency). Do not take Bactrim without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or are planning a pregnancy. As it might passes into breast milk and may affect a nursing infant. Ask your doctor Before breast-feeding a baby. Caution is advised when this product is used in the elderly since this group may be more sensitive to side effects. Use caution when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities. Bactrim may cause dizziness or drowsiness. If you experience dizziness or drowsiness, avoid these activities. Dizziness may be more likely to occur when you rise from a sitting or lying position. Rise slowly to prevent dizziness and a possible fall. Use alcohol cautiously. Alcohol may increase drowsiness and dizziness while taking Bactrim. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight. Bactrim may increase the sensitivity of your skin to sunlight. Use a sunscreen and wear protective clothing when exposure to the sun is unavoidable. Bactrim Drug Interactions Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescription medication you are using, especially : Oral anticoagulants such as warfarin (Coumadin) which may lead to bleeding. Tell your doctor if you are taking a blood thinner. Bactrim may also increase the effects of drugs used to treat diabetes, such as glipizide (Glucotrol), glyburide (Glynase, Micronase, Diabeta), chlorpropamide (Diabinese), tolbutamide (Orinase), and tolazamide (Tolinase). Bactrim may increase the effects of phenytoin (Dilantin) and lead to dangerous side effects. Drugs other than those listed here may also interact with Zyprexa.

Bactrim Overdose If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, diarrhea, headache, yellowing of the skin or eyes, decreased urine production, bloody urine, and coma. Bactrim Missed Dose If you miss an Bactrim dosage, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
