Cleocin Uses Cleocin is an antibiotic. It fights bacteria in the body. It is used to treat bacterial infections. Because of its side effects, Cleocin is usually only used to treat serious infections. How to Use Cleocin
Take Cleocin exactly as directed on the package or as directed by your doctor. If you do not understand these directions, ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them to you. Take each dose with a full glass of water. It can be taken with or without food. Never take more of this medication than is prescribed for you.
Cleocin Side Effects This drug may cause following serious side effects : an allergic reaction (swelling of the lips, tongue, or face, shortness of breath, closing of the throat, or hives), a rash, diarrhea, yellowing of the skin or eyes, abdominal pain, or little or no urine. Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take Cleocin and talk to your doctor if you experience nausea, vomiting, or decreased appetite, heartburn, or an unpleasant or metallic taste in the mouth.
Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual. Cleocin Precautions Tell your doctor your medical history, including: liver disease, kidney disease, or stomach or intestinal disease.
Cleocin should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Cleocin should not be used without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or are planning a pregnancy. As it might passes into breast milk and may affect a nursing infant. Ask your doctor Before breast-feeding a baby. Caution is advised when this product is used in the elderly since this group may be more sensitive to side effects.
Cleocin Drug Interactions Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescription medication you are using, especially : Erythromycin (E-Mycin, Ery-Tab, E.E.S., PCE, Eryc, others). Medicines containing kaolin and pectin (e.g., Kao-Spen, K-C, Kaodene, Kapectolin), which are used to treat diarrhea, may decrease the effects of Cleocin. Do not take kaolin and pectin during treatment with Cleocin. Drugs other than those listed here may also interact with Cleocin. Talk to your doctor and pharmacist before taking any prescription or over-the-counter medicines. Cleocin Overdose If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea may be expected. Cleocin Notes Do not share Cleocin with others.
Cleocin Missed Dose If you miss an Cleocin dosage, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
Cleocin Storage Store Cleocin at room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) away from sunlight and moisture.
