Decadron Uses Decadron is in a class of drugs called steroids. Decadron reduces swelling and decreases the body's immune response. Decadron is used to treat many different conditions. It is used to treat endocrine (hormonal) disorders when the body does not produce enough of its own steroids. How to use Decadron Take Decadron exactly as directed on the package or as directed by your doctor. If you do not understand these directions, ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them to you. Take each dose with a full glass of water.

Never take more of this medication than is prescribed for you. Decadron Side Effects This drug may cause following serious side effects : an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, closing of your throat, swelling of your lips, tongue, or face, or hives), increased blood pressure (severe headache or blurred vision), or sudden weight gain (more than 5 pounds in a day or two). Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take Decadron and talk to your doctor if you experience insomnia, nausea, vomiting, or stomach upset, fatigue or dizziness, muscle weakness or joint pain, problems with diabetes control, or increased hunger or thirst. Other side effects that occur only rarely, usually with high doses of Decadron, include acne, increased hair growth, thinning of the skin, cataracts, glaucoma, osteoporosis, roundness of the face, and changes in behavior. Decadron Precautions Tell your doctor your medical history especially : if you have kidney disease, liver disease, high blood pressure or heart disease, ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis, or stomach ulcers, hypothyroidism, a psychiatric condition, osteoporosis, myasthenia gravis, diabetes mellitus, or any other medical conditions.Decadron should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. Use alcohol cautiously. Acting together, alcohol and Decadron can be damaging to the stomach. Avoid sources of infection. Wash your hands frequently and keep them away from the mouth and eyes. Your immune system may be weakened while taking Decadron. Decadron Drug Interactions Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications, including herbal products, during treatment with Decadron without first talking to your doctor. Many other medicines can interact with Decadron resulting in side effects or altered effectiveness of the medications.

Decadron Overdose If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include obesity (especially around the stomach), a round face, increased hair growth (especially around the face), acne, bruising, increased blood pressure, swollen hands, feet, or ankles (fluid retention), and sore or weak muscles Decadron Notes Do not share this medication with others. Decadron Missed Dose If you miss a dose, take as soon as remembered, do not take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up. Decadron Storage Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (between 15 and 30 degrees C) away from moisture and sunlight. Do not store in the bathroom.
