Garamycin Uses Garamycin is an antibiotic. It fights bacteria in the body. It is used to treat severe or serious bacterial infections.
How to Use Garamycin Take Garamycin exactly as directed on the package or as directed by your doctor. If you do not understand these directions, ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them to you. Take each Dose with a full glass of water.
Never take more of this medication than is prescribed for you. Garamycin Side Effects This drug may cause following serious side effects : an allergic reaction (shortness of breath, closing of the throat, hives, swelling of the lips, face, or tongue, rash, or fainting), little or no urine, decreased hearing or ringing in the ears, dizziness, clumsiness, or unsteadiness, numbness, skin tingling, muscle twitching, or seizures, or severe watery diarrhea and abdominal cramps. Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take gentamicin and talk to your doctor if you experience, increased thirst, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting, a rash.
Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual. Garamycin Precautions Tell your doctor your medical history, including: sulfite sensitivity, kidney disease, hearing loss or loss of balance due to ear problems, Parkinson's disease, or a neuromuscular disorder such as myasthenia gravis. Garamycin should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Garamycin should not be used without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or are planning a pregnancy. As it might passes into breast milk and may affect a nursing infant. Ask your doctor Before breast-feeding a baby. Caution is advised when this product is used in the elderly since this group may be more sensitive to side effects.
Avoid excessive exposure to sunlight. Garamycin increases the sensitivity of the skin to sunlight, and severe sunburning may result. If exposure to the sun is unavoidable, wear protective clothing and sunscreen. Call your doctor if you experience severe burning, blistering, swelling, redness, or a rash after exposure to sunlight. Use caution when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities. Garamycin may cause dizziness. If you experience dizziness, avoid these activities.
Garamycin Drug Interactions Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescription medication you are using, especially those that affect the kidneys, can interact with gentamicin resulting in dangerous side effects and/ or decreased effectiveness. Garamycin Missed Dose If you miss an Garamycin dosage, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
Garamycin Storage Store Garamycin at room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) away from sunlight and moisture.
