Luvox Uses
Luvoxis in a class of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. It is used to treat obsessive-compulsive disorders involving recurring thoughts or actions.
How to Use Luvox Take Luvox exactly as directed on the package or as directed by your doctor. If you do not understand these directions, ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them to you. Take each dose with a full glass of water. Luvox can be taken with or without food. Never take more of this medication than is prescribed for you. Luvox Side Effects An allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, closing of the throat, swelling of the lips, tongue, or face, or hives), an irregular heartbeat or pulse, low blood pressure (dizziness, weakness), high blood pressure (severe headache, blurred vision), or chills or fever. If you experience any of the following less serious side effects, continue taking luvoxand talk to your doctor. Headache;· tremor, nervousness, or anxiety;· nausea, diarrhea, dry mouth, or changes in appetite or weight;· sleepiness or insomnia, or decreased sex drive, impotence, or difficulty having an orgasm.Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. Luvox Precautions Tell your doctor your medical history, including: allergies, kidney/urinary problems, enlarged prostate, glaucoma (narrow angle), severe high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, thyroid problems (hyperthyroid). Limit alcohol intake, as it may aggravate drug side effects. Luvox should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. The pseudoephedrine in this product is excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. Caution is advised when this product is used in the elderly since this group may be more sensitive to side effects.
Luvox Drug Interactions Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescription medication you may or may not use, especially: If you have taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), or tranylcypromine (Parnate), thioridazine (Mellaril), cisapride (Propulsid), or pimozide (Orap).Talk to your doctor and pharmacist before taking any prescription or over-the-counter medicines, including vitamins, minerals, and herbal products. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for more details. Luvox Overdose If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include irregular or unusually slow or fast heartbeat, unusual nervousness or excitement, rapid breathing, confusion, hallucinations, and seizures.
Luvox Notes Do not share Luvox with others.
Luvox Missed Dose If you miss an Luvox dosage, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
Luvox Storage Store Luvox at room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) away from sunlight and moisture.
