Pletal Uses Pletal widens arteries that supply blood to the legs. Pletal also decreases the ability of platelets (particles in the blood involved in blood clotting) to stick together How to use Pletal Take Pletal exactly as directed on the package or as directed by your doctor. If you do not understand these directions, ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them to you. Take each dose with a full glass of water. Pletal can be taken with or without food. Never take more of this medication than is prescribed for you Pletal Side Effects This drug may cause following serious side effects : an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, closing of the throat, swelling of the lips, tongue, or face, or hives), stop taking Pletal and seek emergency medical attention. Other, less serious side effects may also occur. Continue to take Pletal and notify your doctor if you experience headache, diarrhea or abnormal stools, upset stomach, irregular or fast heartbeats, or dizziness. Pletal Precautions Tell your doctor your medical history especially : If
you have congestive heart failure or have liver disease. You may not be able to take Pletal, or you may require a dosage adjustment or special monitoring during treatment.
Pletal should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. Do not consume grapefruit or grapefruit juice during treatment with Pletal unless specifically directed otherwise by your doctor. Pletal can interact with grapefruit and grapefruit juice leading to potentially dangerous effects. Pletal Drug interactions Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescription medication you may use, especially : erythromycin (E.E.S., Ery-Tab, E-Mycin, and others) or clarithromycin (Biaxin), ketoconazole (Nizoral), fluconazole (Diflucan), or itraconazole (Sporanox), diltiazem (Cardizem), omeprazole (Prilosec), fluvoxamine (Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), or sertraline (Zoloft), or nefazodone (Serzone). Drugs other than those listed here may also interact with Pletal. Talk to your doctor and pharmacist before taking any prescription or over-the-counter medicines. Pletal Overdose If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may Include a severe headache, diarrhea, dizziness, fainting, a fast heartbeat, and irregular heartbeats. Pletal Notes Do not share Pletal with others. Pletal Missed Dose If you miss an Pletal dosage, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up. Pletal Storage Store Pletal at room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) away from sunlight and moisture.
